1. About KneadLA
KneadLA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 39-2323137) that operates a technology platform connecting Los Angeles bakeries with surplus bread to nonprofits and homeless shelters through volunteer drivers. By using the KneadLA platform - including our website at kneadla.org and any associated mobile applications - you agree to these Terms of Service.
2. Eligibility
To create an account, you must be at least 18 years of age (or 16 with parental consent for driver roles), provide accurate registration information, and comply with all applicable laws. Accounts are subject to admin approval before access is granted.
3. Driver Responsibilities
Volunteer drivers are independent volunteers, not employees or contractors of KneadLA. By registering as a driver, you agree to:
- Maintain a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance
- Handle all food with care and in compliance with applicable food safety guidelines
- Complete accepted deliveries promptly and notify KneadLA if unable to do so
- Represent KneadLA professionally when interacting with bakery and shelter partners
- Not accept compensation from bakeries or shelters for deliveries
4. Bakery Partner Responsibilities
Bakery partners agree to:
- Post accurate information about bread availability, quantities, and pickup windows
- Ensure donated items are safe for consumption and properly packaged
- Be available during posted pickup windows to hand off donations
- Not charge drivers or KneadLA for donated items
5. Shelter & Nonprofit Responsibilities
Shelter and nonprofit partners agree to:
- Maintain accurate contact and capacity information on the platform
- Have a staff member or representative available during scheduled delivery windows
- Use donated items for their intended purpose - serving individuals in need
- Complete the sign-off process upon receiving deliveries
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for any commercial purpose or personal financial gain
- Provide false or misleading information in your account or posts
- Attempt to access systems or data you are not authorized to access
- Interfere with or disrupt the platform or other users
- Resell donated food items
7. Limitation of Liability
KneadLA operates as a technology platform facilitating connections between independent parties. KneadLA is not responsible for the quality, safety, or suitability of any food donated through the platform. Volunteer drivers are independent volunteers and KneadLA is not liable for any incidents, accidents, or losses arising from delivery activities. To the fullest extent permitted by law, KneadLA's liability is limited to the amount of any donations you have made to KneadLA in the twelve months preceding any claim.
8. Intellectual Property
The KneadLA name, logo, and platform content are owned by KneadLA. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission. By submitting content to the platform (such as profile photos or delivery notes), you grant KneadLA a non-exclusive license to use that content in connection with platform operations.
9. Account Termination
KneadLA reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, engages in conduct harmful to the platform or its partners, or for any other reason at KneadLA's discretion. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at hello@kneadla.org.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
